Meet new friends before the big Napier Welcome Party 🤘🎉
Going to the Welcome Party but don't know anyone? No problem! Join this pre-welcome party mixer where we will do a round of speed friending and play some games to get to know each other. You are also welcome to stay longer and join the welcome party at a later time.
Speed Friending is an 'icebreaker' social event where you get the opportunity to introduce yourself to different people with a timer to keep you on track. It's similar to 'speed dating', only with the goal to find friends rather than someone to date.💃
Free ticket required. The Welcome Party is a separate, ticketed event 🎟️
Please keep in mind this event is 18+ due to the venue's licensing requirements. No ID, no entry!
Accessibility:
Physical Accessibility: The upstairs Union Bar is accessible via lift through the Stay Hotel. If you let us know in advance we can arrange for staff to accompany you from the entrance to the event space.
Seating: The main seating options are benches. We can accommodate individuals using mobility aids.
Noise Levels: The Union Bar has a lively atmosphere, especially during busy periods, which may be challenging for those sensitive to noise. Ear protection is recommended if this may help you. While the venue generally has a busy environment, we will only be playing background music during the event.

Event policies
Can I enter the Pre-Welcome Party Mixer if I'm under 18?
Unfortunately not - as this is a public bar, under 18s may only enter the venue until 8pm. As this event starts at this time, under 18s are not permitted at this event. There are other Speed Friending activities during the week though, so keep an eye out!
Do I need ID?
Yes, you will require official government ID (driving licence or passport) for this event. No photocopies will be accepted by the venue.
