Scotland needs change. Too many of us are being cut off from life's essentials. Too many are frightened of what the future will bring. Too many of us are feeling tired, angry, isolated, and disillusioned. Too many are going hungry, or are without a home, or sacrificing meals, dreading winter due to heating costs, or struggling to get by on money that isn’t enough to cover our costs.
In the student movement we know change for the better happens when we stand together and demand it. That’s why we’re marching with NUS Scotland at the March For All of Us as part of Scotland Demands Better.
This is our chance to come together and demand that politicians make the changes we need for a society where everyone can thrive and prosper. Scotland Demands Better is calling for:
Jobs for everyone who needs one, with fair conditions and wages that pay the bills and student support equivalent to the real living wage available to all Higher Education and Further Education students.
Investment for life's essentials - like affordable homes, good public transport, a thriving natural environment, and strong public services. This includes a demand for concessionary travel for all under 25s, unpaid carers and people on low-income and disability benefits.
Social security so that all of us have a foundation for the future, including real support available to student parents, student carers, and disabled students.
For this to work, for politicians and governments to listen, students need to join the march on Saturday 25th October.
